NVIDIA’s Computex Keynote: Jensen Huang Unveils Windows on ARM Plans

NVIDIA’s CEO Jensen Huang is giving a GTC Taipei keynote tonight at 8PM PT / 11PM ET, and the rumor mill is spinning fast. The biggest buzz centers on a potential partnership with Microsoft and a fresh push for Windows on ARM. Microsoft has been teasing a "new era of PC" for its Surface lineup, and speculation points to unannounced computers powered by NVIDIA’s new ARM processors, the N1 and N1X.

This wouldn’t be NVIDIA’s first rodeo with Microsoft on ARM chips. The company made the Tegra ARM CPUs for the Surface RT back in 2012. That machine didn’t exactly set the world on fire, but a lot has changed since then. ARM-based chips from Apple and Qualcomm have proven they can deliver strong performance and efficiency, and Microsoft seems ready to try again with a serious partner.

Huang’s talk is scheduled to start at 8PM PT, and you can watch it live on the stream embedded above and below. Expect more than just hardware announcements. A renewed Windows on ARM push with NVIDIA inside could reshape the PC landscape, especially if Microsoft positions these devices as true competitors to Apple’s M-series Macs. It’s a move that makes sense, and it might just work this time around.
